Then maybe swing through Savannah, Georgia on our way back. Have you ever been? Got any tips on must do's and places to stay? I'd love to hear them!
Oh I'd love to go to the beach too, but it's not in the cards for us this year. We do like Savannah, but have enjoyed Beaufort SC even more.

We used to live in NC, and while Wrightsville Beach is nice, it's much less crowded and just as beautiful at Carolina Beach and Kure Beach, just south of Wrightsville. We also loved Bald Head Island - you take a ferry ride out to the island and then drive around in golf carts... fun.
ReplyDeleteI have never been to the Carolina Beaches but, I have been to Savannah and Tybee Island. My kids loved it and so did we. Paula Dean's Lady and Sons is the place to eat in Savannah but plan on getting there at 10am in order to eat lunch by 1pm or 2pm...yes it is insane to get into but, well worth it! Savannah is beautiful and so many great tours to go on. I am sure the Carolina's are just as pretty and fun too!

DeleteFrom NC and I definitely think you need to come visit! Ocean Isle beach is lovely - a great friend married there last year on the beach. When you come to the mountains, come on up to Boone & Blowing Rock! If you need recommendations, let me know!
ReplyDeleteWe're headed to NC this year, too. But we head to the mountains. Myrtle Beach is not my favorite. Too touristy. I've not been to any of the NC beaches. Of course, you could always come to St. Petersburg beach! I'd love to show you around.
ReplyDeleteI am super excited you are heading MY way!!! I may have forgotten to tell you that Wrightsville beach is shark infested...at least last year several were bitten by sharks on that beach. Some exciting news...Sunset Beach has added REAL bathrooms that are FREE! Spent a day last week on OIB and they have added Sunset Slush, Italian Ice, at the pier. IF you plan on being in MB on the boardwalk on a Sunday night they offer free Christian concerts in that sandy area in your pic that you posted above which are always fun and family oriented. You know my feelings..MB is very touristy but the Skywheel is incredible and a must do! The Biltmore was a dream come true for me. I have wanted to see it for years. Worth every penny! Please let me know when you head our way, we'd love to join your family for a day on the beach and have you to our house for a home cooked or grilled meal. Safe Travels!
