LONESOME DOVE INSPIRED DRESSER PROJECT

This dresser makeover was...

a lot of work,

a lot of fun,

& inspired by the movie Lonesome Dove which my father-n-law, brother-n-law & husband love. They watch this movie faithfully every Thanksgiving day.  Not to mention that I love my husband and he did most of the repair work on this dresser, so he got to choose (this time) how we were going to finish it.
Obviously this picture is after most of the repair work.  I'm sorry.  I always, always - well mostly always forget the real before picture.
This was just a standard five drawer dresser with terrible hardware.

We stained the interior.

We found this really cool hardware.

Aren't they perfect?  My husband completely rebuilt this drawer in addition to helping me shop for this rustic hardware.  I love that guy I tell ya!

Finding the right baskets took forever.  Next time we have vowed to find the baskets then build the shelves!

Now, you know I can't pass up painting a graphic somewhere on everything we do...that's really my favorite part.  I know someday it's going to fade out of style but for now I'm enjoying painting and the excitement when someone buys it!

You can find this image all over google when you search "Lonesome Dove."

And finally a finished picture of the entire dresser.

When we dropped this off at the Depot the owner saw the top & right away asked, "Hey, where is the most important part?" If your familiar with this movie then I know you'll get "We Don't Rent Pigs!" if not, watch the movie. You'll like it...I promise.

I know that it will take just the right person to take this home but I figure if we have this in Oklahoma...

then I can sell this dresser!

 Happy Monday Y'all!

  1. LOL at that last photo! I love how the dresser turned out and I love that you saved an otherwise "would be junk" dresser! I brought home a roadside dresser this weekend, but don't know what I'm going to do with it - I'm not a fan of rebuilding dressers, but I may dismantle it and turn the parts into other things.
