B'S ROOM. FINALLY SOME PROGRESS!

Monday, November 26, 2012

This picture is right after we finished her desk & chair.  We knew there were going to be projects to complete, but there really wasn't anywhere to store this, plus she needed it so it went into her room.

This is how the wall looked then.

Sorry for the quality of the picture, it was taken with my phone.  But you can see how bleh it all looks.  Wires hanging down the wall, components on the floor, sign just sitting on the desk.  This spot needed help.

Here's what we did.  First we my husband put together these shelves that once finished would be built in's.

We painted all of them.  He hated that idea, but it really made all this go soooo much faster.

He built these in a couple hours.  Painting/dry time too a little bit longer. LOL

I couldn't wait to install these and see her room begin to come together.

Here's where I failed in my chronicling job.  I'll just tell you instead.  We added shelving/facing on top, secured everything to the wall, added lights, hung the television, hid all the wires, and did some touch up painting.

We still need to add a few pieces of trim along the sides (inside so that you don't see the light) but she loves it and it makes her room look so clean & organized.

I really like how more light she has now when she does homework.

Wow -- I really need to dust off her tv, huh!  Can you believe those baskets are filled to the top with old Disney VHS movies?!  Last year her VHS player broke and we couldn't find another one, so I offered to start one by one buying her favorite Disney movies on DVD.  One of her best friends mom heard of our dilemma and gave us an old one that they had.  Whew! Crisis averted, but I have no idea what we'll do if this one breaks! LOL

We started one of the VHS tapes while we were finishing up this project and cracked up when it began and said now on VHS and DVD!  Now, when we pop in a DVD we hear now on BlueRay! LOL  How times have changed in just a few years.

A small sign I painted for her.  I have another surprise sign for her but I'm not quite done so I'll share it later.

Good choice of reading material.  I feel like I forget everything these days, maybe I should borrow this book!

Thanks for stopping by to see what we've been up to.  I'm sure it won't be long until she has all the extra space full of books!

This entire project wound up costing us under $100 and we had it mostly completed in two days!
