TRADITIONS THANKSGIVING LINKY PARTY - FRONT PORCH DECOR & GRANDMA'S PUMPKIN PIE RECIPE

Wednesday, November 14, 2012

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year.  I love how nature changes around us, bringing cooler weather and beautiful scenery for us to live in.  God's creation miracle is all around us and I love it.

This party started back on the first week in October and it's been going strong ever since. There were several hosts each week;
Setting for Four
Notes From A Cottage Industry
Mrs. Hine's Class
At The Picket Fence
It's So Very Cheri
Freckled Laundry
and me!
I thought I'd share a little re-cap of what's been shared so that way if you missed anything you can catch up!  Sound like a plan?  Here ya go:

First, we began with Heather at Setting for Four sharing her gorgeous tablescape and recipe for a maple syrup acorn squash casserole. Yum!

Then the party jumped over to Notes From A Cottage Industry where she shared her awesome Thanksgiving printables and a recipe for Pumpkin Maple Cake!  Love this idea!
Sharon at Mrs. Hines Class shared her Mantel decor and a yummy pork tenderloin recipe.
Need a kids craft for your "kid table?"  At The Picket Fence  shared an awesome idea for a "What are you thankful for?" table runner and a Pumpkin Pie Latte recipe!  Delish!
I L.O.V.E this fall bunting over at It's So Very Cheri.  Plus Cheri shares how she is losing weight & plans to keep it off, even during Thanksgiving when we all usually tend to stuff ourselves silly!

I love how Jami at Freckled Laundry set her table...it's soooo cute!  Plus, she shares many of her families traditions so be sure to check it out if you haven't already!

Now its my turn!  I am sharing our front porch and my grandma's pumpkin pie recipe.  Like I said, Fall is my favorite time of year and I love corn stalks, pumpkins and mums all over!  This is a picture intensive post for sure! LOL

Ya ready?  Here's our front porch.

Getting things ready...

We also added new hardware, knocker and house numbers.  Love them!

A friend gave me these old theatre seats.  We added wood for stability at the bottom and painted it black to help it blend in then added fall pillows.  This is one of my favorite pieces on the porch!

Look at the detail on the sides...

I found this antique table at an auction, it fits perfectly on our porch.

Another small sitting nook...

Things look a little dusty, but the Oklahoma winds are blowing full force here lately and dusting efforts are futile!

I think I've mentioned it before that I don't like clutter. Usually everything I use is passed down from family because I just like old stuff and I'm cheap!  This watering can and bucket that the mums are setting in are from my grandparents home.  Brings back lots of memories just having them out.
These flowers are one of my favorites.  My grandpa always had this old birdbath by the driveway that was always filled with this type of flower.  Now I plant them too...LOL  I'm original that way.  The weather is getting cooler but they just keep right on blooming.
I've changed out the sign now to say, "Happy Fall Ya'll!"  Thought I had taken a new picture, but I guess not.  Oops!
Hope you've enjoyed a tour of the front porch!  I'll be sharing a pumpkin pie recipe tomorrow so be sure to check back!  Now, are you ready to show us all what you've done to decorate for Thanksgiving, recipe's or family traditions that you would like to share?

  1. Your front porch is gorgeous, Clydia. Such a huge & welcoming space. I love that Smith & Wesson sign! Those theatre seats are GREAT. I'm sentimental too with old stuff. Do you happen to know what those little flowers are called (that your Grandpa had in his birth bath)? Maybe you told us...I'll go back through and double-check.
